Considerate Design and a Green List for Sustainable Procurement

In an earlier blog post we told you about the event “Mod, makt, glädje” – Swedish for “Courage, Power and Joy,” where OFFECCT’s Design Manager Anders Englund gave a speech about OFFECCT’s sustainable design philosophy.

OFFECCT’s sustainable work started back in 1993, and we think it’s great that sustainability is getting more and more attention in the design world.

Responsible for “Courage, Power and Joy” was Design Med Omtanke (DMO, Swedish for Considerate Design). Considerate Design was an initiative established in order to “give people help to realise their ideas in a sustainable way,” taken by the Region of Västra Götaland. More about DMO in English here and here.

Now that the first phase of “Considerate Design” has come to an end, we at OFFECCT hope that the important work will continue and that the so called GREEN LIST – which is a tool developed by Västra Götaland for sustainable procurement of furniture and interior design – will be widely used.

At OFFECCT we believe that no matter what the emissions are every company can and should make a difference. To minimize our environmental influence we have implemented green working methods to support our daily workflow. We do this by sustainable development and by constantly testing new, innovative and eco-friendly materials. We strive continuously to make products that are lifecycle based and at the same time re-use materials to minimize our emissions.

Pick Up Royal – Our Gift to the Crown Princess Couple

Yesterday we had the honor to welcome H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria and H.R.H. Prince Daniel to our head office in Tibro, as part of the Crown Princess Couple’s visit to Västergötland.

We were very impressed by the interest shown by H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria and H.R.H. Prince Daniel in our company and our products.

As a token of our appreciation we presented a special gift to the Newly Weds, namely an exclusive version of our PICK UP “minitruck” designed by Alfredo Häberli in royal blue and gold, to fit into their new home in the Haga Palace.

We call it the PICK UP ROYAL.

- When my son took his first steps and grabbed a stool to help him, I immediately saw what was needed. Pick Up is a combined chair, walking aid, travel and transport facility. Now that Luc can walk without any difficulty, the Pick Up has become his car, loaded down with all his books. And when he has visitors, he takes them for a ride in his Pick Up, says Alfredo Häberli, designer of the original Pick Up.

Our gift was appreciated by the Crown Princess Couple, who also expressed gratitute for the fact that OFFECCT supplied furniture to the gala lounge at the Drottningholm Palace the night before the Royal Wedding earlier this summer.

We at OFFECCT are much grateful for the fact that the Crown Princess Couple chose to visit os and and wish H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria and H.R.H. Prince Daniel a wonderful life in their new home at the Haga Palace.
