Corporate Social Responsibility Forum

#swgreen #swcsr

Recently OFFECCT’s QE manager Joachim Schubert participated at a forum in Gothenburg on the theme of CSR (corporate social responsibility) held by CSR Västsverige.

The forum brought together enterprises and students to explore the concept of CSR. The day began with a researcher talking about the concept and its meaning. The truth is that the concept is disputed among researchers, but all agree that it has to do with the responsibility corporations take within three areas; environment, society and economy.

Joachim talked to the audience about CSR Västsverige’s challenge OFFECCT was a part of in 2010, and the results of that challenge. Within the frame of the challenge, climate initiative 2010, OFFECCT chose three ways to improve their environmental responsibility. We streamlined our energy consumption, chose to use only wind and water power in our factory, and managed to decrease our use of paper with 50%.

To illustrate our commitment to the environment, Joachim showed the chair Louis IX to the audience. The chair is made out of recycled bottles. Like Joachim pointed out, the chair uses the most important material of the future – waste products.

Carlos about Louis IX:

“Hoop chair has an obvious point of reference in the classical Louis XVI chairs or Gustavian chairs with their back and seat with oval shapes. This oval shaped scheme has been a recurring subject during the twentieth century, many authors have recreated this archetype with diverse materials and proportions. What makes the difference between my project and its’ ancestors is the incorporation of a second layer or level of significance added as a membrane form that visually unifies and includes the two oval shapes. This layer recalls a period during the fourties and fifties of the twentieth century.” – Carlos Tiscar
