Clerkenwell Design Week Coming Up

Next week we will be participating at the 2013 edition of the Clerkenwell Design Week – the UK’s leading independent design festival. The festival is located in and around Clerkenwell, London, and is open 21st- 23rd May from 10 am – 9pm. We will exhibit in the Farmiloe Building. Please come and say hello and chat if you have the opportunity!

At the festival we will present many new and exciting products from renowned designers such as Cate&Nelson, Formfjord, Jean-Marie Massaud, Knudsen Berg Hindenes, Luca Nichetto, Mattias Stenberg, Nendo, Richard Hutten and UNStudio.

We are also proud to present OFFECCT LAB, a new strategic initiative designed to concentrate our efforts in the development of new solutions and new products. The two first tangible results of OFFECCT LAB are AIRBERG and CAPE. AIRBERG is a challenging piece of seating furniture designed by famous French designer Jean-Marie Massaud and a result of experimenting with new seating typologies. Cape, design by one of the greatest names on the contemporary design scene; the Japanese designer Nendo, is a complex chair with an elegant look and extremely thin dimensions.

Besides the experimental LAB venture we also present the UPGRADES-13 initiative which includes the OFFECCT SELECTED PATTERNSTM and OFFECCT FLEXICOLOUR. SELECTED PATTERNSTM and FLEXICOLOUR are Offecct’s new concepts for optimal customization. SELECTED PATTERNSTM includes OFFECCT PATTERNS and OFFECCT STITCHES.

Airberg, which has come out of our new initiative OFFECCT LAB, is an innovative piece of furniture that breaks with conventions. The inspiration behind the form of Airberg is a combination of a comfortable, inviting piece of seating furniture and an iceberg filled with vacuum. The furniture’s abstract form is light in its expression and Airberg is contemporary both in its design and in the technique used.

Airberg consists of a structural case which gives the impression of being filled with a vacuum, but is in reality filled with a flexible padding material. The unique craftsmanship used in the production of Airberg makes it possible to create a deconstructed piece of furniture that is more defined in its asymmetry. Jean-Marie Massaud has created a piece of furniture that is comfortable, sustainable and competent, making it highly contemporary.

Flexible Interiors With ISLANDS

We are currently showcasing our new products in Milan, and one of them is Jean-Marie Massaud’s Islands. Islands is a system of seating furniture that creates the feeling of small islands or coral reefs and provides space for informal meetings, while shielding the people sitting on an ”island” from those sitting on the adjacent ”islands” with the help of different materials and different heights.

This feeling can also be enhanced by plants placed at designated spaces in the furniture. Different seating levels and different materials give the furniture flexibility and do not lock the user to a certain behavior.

With Islands Jean-Marie Massaud wants to reformulate public interiors such as waiting areas and lobbies. In order to achieve this Massaud has created a flexible and functional furniture system that easily can be adjusted to different surroundings and contexts.

Sound absorbing SOUNDWAVE® PIX

In Milan at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile we are currently presenting the news of 2013. On of these novelties is the sound absorbing panel Soundwave® Pix, created by the French designer Jean-Marie Massaud.

Soundwave® Pix provides architects with the possibility to create unique rooms by offering the option to combine colors and forms in different ways. Soundwave® Pix complements the sound absorbing function with the potential of esthetic variation in terms of the color and form options. The design of Pix in itself is a reminder of keys on a keyboard, and radiates a sense of recognition that also surprises.

Jean-Marie Massaud innovates with AIRBERG

Airberg by Jean-Marie Massaud is currently being presented to visitors at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan. Airberg is an innovative piece of furniture that breaks with conventions, and one of the first results that come out of the work at Offecct Lab, our strategic initiative designed to concentrate our efforts in the development of new solutions and new products.

The inspiration behind the form of Airberg is a combination of a comfortable, inviting piece of seating furniture and an iceberg filled with vacuum. Jean-Marie Massaud Interviewed

This year French designer Jean-Marie Massaud, with ehom we have cooperated for a long time, has designed numerous products for us: the sofa and easy chair Airberg, the system of seating furniture Islands and the sound absorbing panel Soundwave Pix.

Massaud was born in 1966 and graduated from the ENSCI in 1990. In 2000 he founded Studio Massaud.

His design is based on a well-developed design philosophy. From industrial design to architecture and technological innovation; he is a man of change. He prefers questioning the existing, in order to achieve progress and eventually propose answers to contemporary problems.

Welcome to the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan

We will participate at the 2013 edition of the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan – known as the largest design trade fair in the world.

The fair is located at Rho Fiera and we will exhibit in pavilion 20, stand E18. The fair is open April 9th – 14th, 9.30 am to 6.30 pm.

Salone Internazionale del Mobile

Besides the experimental LAB venture Offecct also presents the NEWS-13 and UPGRADES-13 initiatives.

Offecct’s NEWS-13 initiative includes the following novelties:

Offecct’s UPGRADES-13 initiative includes the following:

- OFFECCT SELECTED PATTERNSTM
- OFFECCT FLEXICOLOUR
SELECTED PATTERNSTM and FLEXICOLOUR are Offecct’s new concepts for optimal customization. SELECTED PATTERNSTM includes OFFECCT PATTERNS and OFFECCT STITCHES.

- OFFECCT PATTERNS comprises possibilities to customize parts of Offecct’s collection with carefully selected and exclusive patterns that reinforce the character of the product and gives it a unique expression.

- OFFECCT STITCHES are exclusive decorative stitching in six executions which creates possibility to an individual addition in combination of design and elegance. The seams for SELECTED PATTERNS are available in 12 colours: Beige, black, brown, dark blue, dark green, dark grey, grey, neon green, neon orange, orange, red and white.
FLEXICOLOUR offers a broad selection of RAL colors for lacquer of metal frames, legs for sofas etc. and complements the existing options in chrome, white, silver and black.

The exhibition presenting our long-term partner and friend designer Jean-Marie Massaud’s work is currently on display in our Stockholm showroom. You still have the chance to see it until March 8th.

The exhibition was inaugurated during the Stockholm Furniture Fair, and was a great success with designers, architects, retailers and many more  paying a visit. This is the first time that Jean-Marie Massaud exhibits in Scandinavia, and a great opportunity to see his exciting work.

Islands of Possibilities

Jean-Marie Massaud has designed several products for us this year. One of them is Islands, a system of seating furniture for public interiors such as waiting rooms and lobbies.

To do this Massaud created a flexible and functional furniture that can be easily adapted to the surrounding environment.

The design of Islands, tables and seating areas in different heights, ensures that people sitting on one island are shielded or cut off from people on another island, thereby providing intimacy. This feeling can further be heightened by installing plants at different places in the construction.
