We are happy to announce that we are one of ten finalists in the Green Tenant Award!
The Green Tenant Award was created to reward office tenants in Sweden whose efforts in and around the office favors the environment. Examples of how tenants can favor the environment can for example be; a high level of awareness among employees; purchasing environmentally friendly products; and the way the office is designed in terms of choice of material, interior design and technical solutions.
The Green Tenant Award
The award aims to stimulate and develop environmental efforts amongst Swedish office tenants. It highlights examples of how organizations can positively affect the environment and increase the focus on environment and energy impact of the office of the future.
Here at Offecct we produce environmental friendly furniture that is used in many offices around the world. At the same time, we strive to maintain a high environmental standard also at our own office. Important aspects of these ongoing efforts are a clear environmental policy and making sure that we purchase sustainable alternatives when choosing for example paper, electricity, lighting and so forth.
On the 13th of November 2012 the initiators of the award, Nextport and Tengbom, will present the winner in Nexport’s premises in Stockholm. Keep your fingers crossed!
Offecct nominated for the Green Tenant Award
Sustainability and high environmental standards are very important to us here at Offecct. Many of our furniture are labeled with the Nordic Swan; a label that helps consumers chose products that are respectful of our limited resources and of nature.
nordic eco label
The Nordic Swan is an evolving concept that is revised regularly. This means that we can never relax, but must constantly make sure we stay in tune with new technologies and materials that allow us to become even more environmental friendly and improve our products. Right now the label criteria are being increased, and they will enter into force at New Year’s.
Cornflake at the office of the Nordic Swan
Not only are many of our furniture labeled with the Nordic Swan, but our products are actually used at the office of the label. Here you can see the chair Cornflake designed by Claesson Koivisto Rune.
The OFFECCT showroom in Tibro plays a very important role in our creative process. The showroom is not only a place to show the furniture, but it is also a source of inspiration, and a meeting and working place.
This important space demands the right lighting. And as a result, this room’s lighting is one of the most energy demanding parts of the factory. It is therefore important to make it more energy efficient.
We have chosen two ways to decrease energy consumption; by beginning to change regular light bulbs for LEDs, and by creating three different levels of luminous intensity.
LED spotlight 9W
The most intensive level of the demand controlled lighting is the one used for customer visits. This situation demands full lighting with spotlights so that the customer can fully see the furniture, with their colors and their details.
Showroom Tibro, full lighting
The second level we call saving mode. It still uses spotlights, but at a lower intensity and this level is used in everyday situations.
Showroom Tibro, saving mode
The third and last mode is the working lighting. This level does not use spotlights but fluorescent tubes that provide sufficient light for working, but the light provided is flat and not adequate for exhibiting the furniture.
This is one of the ways we continuously work towards sustainability.
