Airberg, which has come out of our new initiative OFFECCT LAB, is an innovative piece of furniture that breaks with conventions. The inspiration behind the form of Airberg is a combination of a comfortable, inviting piece of seating furniture and an iceberg filled with vacuum. The furniture’s abstract form is light in its expression and Airberg is contemporary both in its design and in the technique used.

Airberg consists of a structural case which gives the impression of being filled with a vacuum, but is in reality filled with a flexible padding material. The unique craftsmanship used in the production of Airberg makes it possible to create a deconstructed piece of furniture that is more defined in its asymmetry. Jean-Marie Massaud has created a piece of furniture that is comfortable, sustainable and competent, making it highly contemporary.

The Studio series consists of a number of different versions; Studio Twin, Studio Twin Beam and Studio Easy Chair Right / Left, giving architects the possibility to create exiting and innovative interiors.

- The concept for the Studio series was to create a light, comfortable and easily rearranged collection of seating elements which incorporate a variety of spatial gestures with specific emphasis on versatility in communication, says Ben van Berkel, co-founder and architect at UNStudio.

Light Seating in the Form of NETFRAME

Currently on exhibition in Milan is our new sofa and easy chair Netframe, designed by the duo Cate & Nelson. Cate & Nelson’s idea behind Netframe was to create a piece of furniture that consumes as little material as possible while maintaining a high comfort.

OFFECCT_Netframe

Netframe by Cate&Nelson

- In order to succeed with this challenge we had to turn everything upside down in the development process. We wanted it to be easy to produce with minimal time and material usage, says Nelson Ruiz-Acal, one half of Cate & Nelson.

Netframe was developed into a very comfortable piece of furniture with extremely low impact on the environment. Cate & Nelson believe it is important to see the wholeness in their design, that the product is responsible at all stages; from production to usage, which is very apparent in their design of Netframe.

The design duo Cate & Nelson consists of the Swedish designer Cate Högdahl and Spanish Nelson Ruiz-Acal. Cate & Nelson were educated at the Europeo di Design in Madrid and are based in London but also represented in Spain and Sweden. Their designs are distinguished by sustainability and a continental approach.

Sustainable Comfort by Cate & Nelson

Our new sofa and easy chair Netframe is designed by designduo Cate & Nelson and is their first Offecct product.

OFFECCT_Netframe

The idea behind Netframe was to create a piece of furniture where the construction contains as little material as possible all the while maintaining a high comfort. Cate&Nelson believe it is important to see the wholeness in their design, that the product is accountable in all steps from production to usage. This is also one of the pillars of how we at Offecct develop our products, and this provided for a solid foundation for a positive cooperation.

– Offecct is one of the most reliable partners we have worked with. The company takes a great social responsibility with their products and their production process, says Nelson Ruiz-Acal, one half of the design duo.

The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies have awarded the easy chair Layer by Offecct and Läufer + Keichel with the 2012 GOOD DESIGN Award.

The easy chair LAYER is characterized by three layers, which can be varied in terms of textile and color in order to create a unique design. The first layer can be compared to a stool, the second layer to a chair and the third layer creates the final form; an easy chair.

Float High Auctioned at Bukowskis

#design #bukowskis

One of our beautiful Float High easy chairs is up for auction at Bukowskis. It is upholstered in a skyblue fabric, and has cushions in a striped multicolored fabric.

Bukowskis is the Nordic leading art business. Founded in 1870 by Polish nobleman Henryk Bukowski, Bukowskis have conducted the greatest auctions in Sweden for the past 140 years, including the collection of King Charles XV in 1873 and the estate of Master director Ingmar Bergman in 2009.

Float High by Claesson Koivisto Rune

The creation of Float High was made with an architectural approach with the goal of creating low-key furniture with a strong sense of presence – something that is very obvious in this easy chair. The design was prompted by Koivisto’s own needs, which involved a lot of travelling and many meetings in public settings.

Below some other versions of Float.

Eero Koivisto himself says of the creation: “I noticed the same behavior in everyone involved in business meetings. People lean forward in the very low seats, try to conceal their computer screen, and hold their hand around their mouth while talking on their mobile phone. I wondered whether I could create a piece of furniture that felt like it was a small, separate room. I started with Float, which I had previously designed for Offecct, and pulled up the edges just far enough so that when you sit up very straight you can see over the edge, but when you sit back you get a private and secluded space.”

Float is a series of easy chairs and sofas available with the backrest and sides in different heights.

Salone del Mobile News #9: COUPE by Läufer + Keichel

#isalone

At the Salone del Mobile in Milan we are showing our visitors all our new products. One out of two new products from our new collaboration with Berlin based design agency Läufer + Keichel is the chair COUPE.

Coupe by Offecct and Läufer + Keichel

Coupe by Offecct and Läufer + Keichel

At first glance COUPE gives the impression of being entirely made of textile. In fact COUPE can be described as a chair that has been dressed up in textile. Läufer + Keichel and Offecct have used a special knitting technique in order to obtain this effect. The duo wanted to create a chair that gives the impression that it is wearing pants.

– We wanted to create a chair that gives the impression it is wearing pants. In the process of obtaining this we are happy for the knowledge and support Offecct provided us, says Läufer + Keichel.
