Offecct International

#isalone #design

At the recent Salone del Mobile we got a chance to show how international our company is. In order to get the most out of every meeting during the fair, we had people in our stand speaking, besides Swedish of course, nine other languages: English, Danish, German, Russian Japanese, Dutch, Italian, French and Spanish!

Apart from meeting and talking to the many visitors of the fair, our Design Manager Anders Englund met and discussed with many established international designers, such as Alfredo Häberli, Jean-Marie Massaud, Ineke Hans, Khodi Feiz, Michael Sodeau, Patrick Norguet, Christophe Pillet, Louise Hederström, Läufer & Keichel, Tengbom arkitekter among others. We also met and talked to new interesting designers from Argentina, Germany and England with the future in mind.

Now that Offecct is established in South America, represented by Jeanette Verhulst, interest for our company has grown among the population, something that was evident at our stand during the fair where many Southern Americans came to visit us.

OFFECCT Voices: Preview #4 – Alfredo Häberli on OFFECCT

In our fourth preview from the book “OFFECCT – Voices: Furniture, passion and entrepreneurs” Alfredo Häberli tells us how he started to work together with OFFECCT.

In Alfredo’s own words:

“One day, Eero Koivisto and Anders Englund passed by my studio in Zürich to talk about a possible cooperation. I’m a big admirer of Swedish design, so I was happy to be given the chance to work on something up there in the North! We spent a fantastic day together, discussing everything.

There was no real brief for our project but more of a desire to work together. For me, that was motivation enough. I developed the idea of adding a small table to an easy chair.

In my way of thinking and working, there is always the desire to go one step beyond that which already exists, so I try to find or define new themes. In the case of this project, called Solitaire, I found a new typology.

Overnight, Solitaire made me very well known in Scandinavia and it was one of the most celebrated pieces at the Stockholm Furniture Fair when it launched. It is anOFFECCT Voices: Preview #3 – Art direction: Eero Koivisto important piece for me.”

Pick Up Royal – Our Gift to the Crown Princess Couple

Yesterday we had the honor to welcome H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria and H.R.H. Prince Daniel to our head office in Tibro, as part of the Crown Princess Couple’s visit to Västergötland.

We were very impressed by the interest shown by H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria and H.R.H. Prince Daniel in our company and our products.

As a token of our appreciation we presented a special gift to the Newly Weds, namely an exclusive version of our PICK UP “minitruck” designed by Alfredo Häberli in royal blue and gold, to fit into their new home in the Haga Palace.

We call it the PICK UP ROYAL.

- When my son took his first steps and grabbed a stool to help him, I immediately saw what was needed. Pick Up is a combined chair, walking aid, travel and transport facility. Now that Luc can walk without any difficulty, the Pick Up has become his car, loaded down with all his books. And when he has visitors, he takes them for a ride in his Pick Up, says Alfredo Häberli, designer of the original Pick Up.

Our gift was appreciated by the Crown Princess Couple, who also expressed gratitute for the fact that OFFECCT supplied furniture to the gala lounge at the Drottningholm Palace the night before the Royal Wedding earlier this summer.

“For me it is extremely important that furniture encourages activity and movement. Nowadays people work in a different way than they used to, which puts new demands on our environment – people are expected to take more initiative in discussions and to be more active in meetings. I always try to develop and create new solutions. Good ideas should be able to be expressed in one or two sentences. I keep history in the background, and always endeavour to invent new design aspects.” says Alfredo Häberli
