Sound absorbing SOUNDWAVE® PIX

In Milan at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile we are currently presenting the news of 2013. On of these novelties is the sound absorbing panel Soundwave® Pix, created by the French designer Jean-Marie Massaud.

Soundwave Pix by Jean-Marie Massaud

Soundwave® Pix provides architects with the possibility to create unique rooms by offering the option to combine colors and forms in different ways. Soundwave® Pix complements the sound absorbing function with the potential of esthetic variation in terms of the color and form options. The design of Pix in itself is a reminder of keys on a keyboard, and radiates a sense of recognition that also surprises.

Massaud’s designs are characterized by an understanding of the surrounding world and he creates designs through a holistic approach that captures the zeitgeist in an interesting way. Soundwave® STAND by Richard Hutten

In Milan we are currently presenting the new products of 2013, such as Soundwave® Stand by Richard Hutten. Soundwave® Stand is a new tool for architects and consists of a frame onto which all Offecct’s sound panels in the Soundwave®-series can be fixed. The device fits discretely into all environments without being seen – instead it accentuates the panels used.

Offecct-richardhutten-stand

Offecct-richardhutten-stand

The design of Soundwave® Stand is very closely connected to Hutten’s own design concept “No Sign of Design” where the products should feel entirely natural in its surrounding.

Soundwave® Stand makes it possible to create room within a room and give spatial direction and is an important tool for the so called A2-concept where activities dictate the working area which can easily be formed after the needs that arise. Soundwave® Stand and the Soundwave panels can be combined in infinite ways and provides architects with great possibilities for variation in many environments.

Dutch Designer Richard Hutten Leaves No Sign of Design

For the second time we are cooperating with internationally renowned Dutch designer Richard Hutten. Last year he designed Soundwave Stripes, and this year he follows up the success with room divider Soundwave Stand. Below is an interview with Richard where he talks about his new Product for Offecct:

Hutten has a degree from the Academy Industrial Design in Eindhoven. In 1991 he started his own design studio, working on a variety of projects such as furniture-, product-, interior- and exhibition design. Hutten is part of the very successful and influential generation of designers that emerged in Holland during the 1990s and onwards.

Hutten works with furniture design, product design as well as interior design and is famous for design concepts such as “No Sign of Design”. This concept is very present in the design of Soundwave Stand. The frame onto which any Soundwave panel can be attached is deliberately discrete and rather puts the panel to its advantage than steels the glory.

  1. Oblong Face Shape – An oblong face is similar to square in that it is just about the same width from top to bottom with the length being much greater than the width. To counter this, a good choice would be large sunglasses to cover as much of the center of the face as possible to minimize the length.

Soundwave Swell Exhibited at MoMA, New York

#MoMA #design

Our sound absorbent SOUNDWAVE SWELL is being exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York within the context of the exhibition Born out of Necessity.

Soundwave-swell-moma

SOUNDWAVE SWELL is designed by Teppo Asikainen and absorbes sounds in the uppers upper frequency range (500 Hz and above). These panels help reduce disturbing reflections of environmental sounds, and is Eco labelled with the Nordic Swan.

Soundwave-swell-moma-2

The exhibition began on March 2nd and will continue until January 29th next year. This is the manifesto for Born out of Necessity:

Showcasing objects that adhere to the traditional view of design as a tool for problem-solving, Born out of Necessity offers close examination of the problems themselves—whether urgent, foreseen, or imagined. From objects that respond to pressing needs in developing countries to new solutions that are tailored to the urban environment, the exhibition examines how design intervenes across a range of experiences, including medical emergencies and natural disasters. Other objects demonstrate how products created to address specific challenges for people with disabilities can provide solutions that improve everyone’s life. Drawing on the narrative power of design, Born out of Necessity addresses a host of complex cultural developments, such as the need to incorporate environmental responsibility in everyday life, our attempts to marry ancient religious beliefs with contemporary mores, and the desire to anticipate and prevent technological and ecological quagmires.
