Success in Milan

The Salone del Mobile in Milan has come to an end, and we are very happy with the days spent in Italy.

We were 16 representatives from Offecct at our stand, and we were constantly showing our Collection to partners, customers, designers and representatives of the media.

We are thrilled by the interest shown in both Offecct and our products!

Portable Seating Solutions With CARRY ON

One of the novelties we are currently presenting at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile is Mattias Stenberg’s creation Carry On. Carry On is a portable seating solution that works perfectly by itself but also as a complement to other products. Designer Mattias Stenberg has a strong belief in the need of flexible working places in the public space. Today we work more in projects and need environments that can be easily adapted to different needs.

- Carry On offers the possibility to sit down in an environment where you might not usually sit, says Mattias Stenberg.

Carry On is not only physically flexible; it also signals to the user how it should be used by the handle on top.

- This type of furniture also signals flexibility in how you work and your mindset and shows how the company views the importance of interactivity at large, Stenberg continues.

Mattias Stenberg, born 1975, is a Swedish designer with a degree from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. In 2010 he founded his studio Vision A&D that focuses on contemporary architecture and design.

  1. Very good blog! Do you have any recommendations for
aspiring writers? I’m planning to start my own website soon but I’m a little lost on everything.
Would you propose starting with a free platform like WordPress
or go for a paid option? There are so many choices out there that I’m totally confused .. Any ideas? Many thanks!

Flexible Interiors With ISLANDS

We are currently showcasing our new products in Milan, and one of them is Jean-Marie Massaud’s Islands. Islands is a system of seating furniture that creates the feeling of small islands or coral reefs and provides space for informal meetings, while shielding the people sitting on an ”island” from those sitting on the adjacent ”islands” with the help of different materials and different heights.

OFFECCT-Islands-2

Islands by Jean-Marie Massaud

This feeling can also be enhanced by plants placed at designated spaces in the furniture. Different seating levels and different materials give the furniture flexibility and do not lock the user to a certain behavior.

With Islands Jean-Marie Massaud wants to reformulate public interiors such as waiting areas and lobbies. In order to achieve this Massaud has created a flexible and functional furniture system that easily can be adjusted to different surroundings and contexts.

OFFECCT_Islands-3

Islands by Jean-Marie Massaud

- Islands is not a classical piece of seating furniture; it is more abstract with different parts that together form an entirety. It stands for innovation, says Jean-Marie Massaud.

Massaud’s designs are characterized by an understanding of the surrounding world and he creates designs through a holistic approach that captures the zeitgeist in an interesting way. Massaud has been named Designer of the Year several times and has worked with companies such as Cacharel, Lancôme and Renault.

Light Seating in the Form of NETFRAME

Currently on exhibition in Milan is our new sofa and easy chair Netframe, designed by the duo Cate & Nelson. Cate & Nelson’s idea behind Netframe was to create a piece of furniture that consumes as little material as possible while maintaining a high comfort.

OFFECCT_Netframe

Netframe by Cate&Nelson

- In order to succeed with this challenge we had to turn everything upside down in the development process. We wanted it to be easy to produce with minimal time and material usage, says Nelson Ruiz-Acal, one half of Cate & Nelson.

Netframe was developed into a very comfortable piece of furniture with extremely low impact on the environment. Cate & Nelson believe it is important to see the wholeness in their design, that the product is responsible at all stages; from production to usage, which is very apparent in their design of Netframe.

Sound absorbing SOUNDWAVE® PIX

In Milan at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile we are currently presenting the news of 2013. On of these novelties is the sound absorbing panel Soundwave® Pix, created by the French designer Jean-Marie Massaud.

Offecct-soundwave-pix

Soundwave Pix by Jean-Marie Massaud

Soundwave® Pix provides architects with the possibility to create unique rooms by offering the option to combine colors and forms in different ways. Soundwave® Pix complements the sound absorbing function with the potential of esthetic variation in terms of the color and form options. The design of Pix in itself is a reminder of keys on a keyboard, and radiates a sense of recognition that also surprises.

Jean-Marie Massaud innovates with AIRBERG

Airberg by Jean-Marie Massaud is currently being presented to visitors at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan. Airberg is an innovative piece of furniture that breaks with conventions, and one of the first results that come out of the work at Offecct Lab, our strategic initiative designed to concentrate our efforts in the development of new solutions and new products.

Airberg-01

Airberg by Jean-Marie Massaud

The inspiration behind the form of Airberg is a combination of a comfortable, inviting piece of seating furniture and an iceberg filled with vacuum. The furniture’s abstract form is light in its expression and Airberg is contemporary both in its design and in the technique used. Airberg consists of a structural case which gives the impression of being filled with a vacuum, but is in reality filled with a flexible padding material.

Airberg is not ready for production yet, but should be seen as a result of an ongoing research and development process where Offecct and Jean-Marie Massaud dared to develop a piece of seating furniture for the meeting places of the future.

Soundwave® STAND by Richard Hutten

In Milan we are currently presenting the new products of 2013, such as Soundwave® Stand by Richard Hutten. Soundwave® Stand is a new tool for architects and consists of a frame onto which all Offecct’s sound panels in the Soundwave®-series can be fixed. The device fits discretely into all environments without being seen – instead it accentuates the panels used.

Offecct-richardhutten-stand

Offecct-richardhutten-stand

The design of Soundwave® Stand is very closely connected to Hutten’s own design concept “No Sign of Design” where the products should feel entirely natural in its surrounding.

Soundwave® Stand makes it possible to create room within a room and give spatial direction and is an important tool for the so called A2-concept where activities dictate the working area which can easily be formed after the needs that arise. Soundwave® Stand and the Soundwave panels can be combined in infinite ways and provides architects with great possibilities for variation in many environments.

Luca Nichetto Creates Continuity with the Sofa LINEA

One of the novelties currently on exhibition at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan is Luca Nichetto’s Linea. The original idea to the sofa Luca Nichetto got from The Line, an Italian animated TV-show he used to watch as a child. With this inspiration Nichetto wanted to create a sofa with a back, when combined in greater numbers, forms a line that creates continuity.

OFFECCT_Linea.simple

Linea by Luca Nichetto

The possibility to combine modules to a greater entirety gives architects and interior designers the opportunity to play with the product and its lines. The sofa is available in two sizes; two or three seater. Small tables link the sofas together and provide functionality. This makes Linea adaptable and possible to use in large as well as small rooms.

The development of Linea demanded intensive work in order to find the right proportions that could create the above mentioned continuity. The result is a piece of furniture with proportions that wander between a sofa and a bench, landing somewhere in between.

Luca Nichetto was born in 1976 on the island Murano just north of Venice, a place known around the world for its distinctive glass designs. Luca Nichetto’s interest in design led him to studies of industrial design at the IUAV in Venice. He began his professional career in 1999 by designing his first projects in Murano glass for Salviati. In 2006 he launched his own design firm, Nichetto&Partners, which specializes in industrial design and offers its services as a design consultancy. In 2011 he also opened another professional office in Stockholm, Sweden.

The chair CAPE by Nendo

One of the new products we are currenly presenting in Milan is Nendo’s chair Cape. Cape is the result of our first cooperation with and is a complex chair with an exciting look, with ultra-thin dimensions and a very low weight, made possible through our involvement in the development of new steel materials.

Offecct-nendo-cape

Cape by Nendo

The development behind Cape, just like the development of Airberg, has taken place within the Offecct Lab, a comprehensive strategic initiative which aims to concentrate Offecct’s efforts in the development of new solutions and new products.

Cape is an elegant chair that gives the illusion of a cape spread over a frame. The subtle twist in the design of Cape makes the chair stand out all the while being obvious and simple in its design language.
