Success in Milan

The Salone del Mobile in Milan has come to an end, and we are very happy with the days spent in Italy.

We were 16 representatives from Offecct at our stand, and we were constantly showing our Collection to partners, customers, designers and representatives of the media.

We are thrilled by the interest shown in both Offecct and our products!

Offecct on Bloomberg TV

New York based multninational Bloomberg TV reports that “the Milan Design Show is drawing buyers”, and that “Milan Design Week Success Defies Italian Economy.”

We share the sentiment that the 2013 edition of the Salone Internationale del Mobile is a very succesful event, and we are greatful for the interest in our company and our new products shown by visitors and media – especially so since Bloomberg chose to illustrate the success of the Milan Design Week with video from our stand.

Formfjord’s CIRCUS – Redefining the Arena of Life

This week, at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan, we are presenting the first result of our new partnership with Formfjord: the table CIRCUS. The main idea when Formfjord developed CIRCUS was to think not only of the product they were developing, but also the whole living space where life happens. Formfjord wanted to see the whole living space as an arena, a circus.

- The table defines the room and sets the atmosphere – it even changes the behavior of the room. Creating a playful design for the table makes the living room a wonderful place, says Formjord, the duo behind the table.

Fabian Baumann and Sönke Hoof of Formfjord come from different backgrounds; Baumann is a mechanical engineer and Hoof a product designer. When creating their designs, the duo uses their different perspectives to enhance the creative process and develop products that functions well – technologically and ecologically, ergonomically and emotionally, strategically and economically.

- To us it is important that our partners stand for good values. Today everyone considers themselves green in their way of working, but Offecct truly is in all aspects, Formfjord concludes.

The design duo Formfjord was founded in 2006 and work with design and development of products for all areas of everyday life. Formjord’s previous clients include among others Audi, Light Years, Stelton, Memo, trendform, and Rösle.

News from Milan: Studio by UNStudio / Ben van Berkel

One of the new products that we are preseting at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan this week is the series Studio, the result of our first cooperation with UNStudio. The series Studio is a system of seating furniture that can be adapted to any need or environment. The series will be included in our business area Travel & Navigation together with many products suitable for different kinds of waiting areas, terminals, cruise ships and airports etc.

Studio Twin by UNStudio

The Studio series consists of a number of different versions; Studio Twin, Studio Twin Beam and Studio Easy Chair Right / Left. The Studio Twin version creates a seating element for communication and exchange, whereas the Studio Easy chair Right / Left offer possibilities for the user to choose between open and private arrangements. The Studio Twin Beam creates opportunities for use in public spaces and for more playful organizations in public settings. The collection is ideal in many varied settings, such as airport waiting areas, lobbies, offices and libraries.

- The concept for the Studio series was to create a light, comfortable and easily rearranged collection of seating elements which incorporate a variety of spatial gestures with specific emphasis on versatility in communication, says Ben van Berkel, co-founder and architect at UNStudio.

- The varied designs within the series cater for the needs and wishes of the individual in both public and private spaces. The Studio Twin not only encourages communication by enabling the possibility to face each other whilst sitting side-by-side, but is also designed to spatially introduce two visual orientations to the locations in which it is used, van Berkel concludes.

UNStudio is a Dutch architectural design studio specializing in architecture, urban development and infrastructural projects. The studio was founded in 1988 by Ben van Berkel and Caroline Bos. UNStudio stands for United Network Studio, referring to the collaborative nature of the studio. UNStudio’s approach to interior and product design is based on the combination of a deep understanding and working knowledge of materials and innovative technology with distinctive spatial design strategies. UNStudio has worked on varied project within architecture and product design in Asia, Europe and North America. As references Brussels Airport Connector in Belgium, Erasmus Bridge in the Netherlands, Mercedes-Benz Museum in Germany and Theater Agora in Netherlands can be mentioned.

Impressions from Salone del Mobile 2011, Milan

Back home after a wonderful week in Milan and our participation at the Salone del Mobile 2011, we look forward to follow-up all new contacts and impressions.

We met a lot of interesting people, and both our stand and our new products where very well recieved.

The Salone del Mobile 2011 was indeed a truly global event, where we had interesting talks with customers, dealers and visitors from all around the world, including Russia, Ukraine, Taiwan, Japan, Australia, South Korea, the United States and from most countries in Europe.

We felt that our collection is very competitive from an international point of view, and not least our O2asis collection drew a lot of visitors to our stand.

Also, our new acoustic panel SOUNDWAVE Bella – designed by Ida Linea Danielsson from Danish architectural firm 3XN – generetad wide interest.

We think that this year’s edition of Salone del Mobile was very succesful and would like to thank every one of you that made this a great event!

There is also a world premiere for our new collaboration with 3XN (3xNielsen), one of the leading architectural offices in Scandinavia and our new SOUNDWAVE Bella collection.

Ineke Hans Creating SOUNDWAVES® and a Red Dot

In an earlier post we told you about the fact that our Geo SOUNDWAVE® by Ineke Hans has received the Red Dot Design Award.

Geo is the latest addition to our series of SOUNDWAVE® acoustic panels. OFFECCT has been working with sound absorbing materials for a long time, and was the first furniture company to launch designed acoustic wall panels. We constantly work with product development of acoustic panels, room dividers and sound reducing furniture materials.

GEO was designed by Dutch designer Ineke Hans, who set up her designoffice INEKEHANS/ARNHEM in 1998 in Arnhem Holland, after graduating at the Royal College of Art in London in 1995. One of Hans’s trademarks is to the investigation of the psychological roots of products and plays with the interaction between people, objects and space.

The new Geo sound panel uses a geometric pattern that is decorative but can also function on the large scale with many panels in rows without looking too cluttered, or as Ineke puts it:

“People have always wanted to decorate their walls – everywhere and in every era”, says Ineke Hans.

Geo is currently on display in OFFECCT’s stand at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, in Milan, Italy. (Pavillion 8, stand E:43)

    Hallo Ineke,

    Mijn naam is Gerton Groenendijk en ik woon ik Velp.

    Muziek luisteren is mijn grote passie.
    En een optimale akoestiek van mijn luisterkamer is daarbij belangrijk.

    Met Harmonix room tuning heb ik al een goed effect bereikt.
    Maar mijn partner vind die witte dots op de muur niet zo geslaagd.

    Ik ben daarom ook geinteresseerd in de mooie acoustische panelen die ik in de Elle van april dit jaar tegen ben gekomen.

    Misschien kan je iets betekenen in verhoging van mijn luisterplezier en behouden van de huisstijl in de luisterruimte.
