During the Stockholm Furniture Fair the Nordic Ecolabel (called “Svanen” in Swedish) launched a competition with an excellent prize to win: our Amazonas table. The lucky winner of the quiz was Evy Eriksson in Anderstorp, Sweden. Congratulations!
The prize of the competition was a gift from us here at Offecct. Amazonas is designed by Eero Koivisto. The concept for the Amazonas table series originated when Eero Koivisto saw aerial photographs of the Amazon rain forest where the tree crowns created a dense ceiling. Koivisto wanted the tables to be poetic and thought provoking.

Not only is Amazonas itself labeled with the Nordic Ecolabel, but parts of the revenue from the tables go to the Children’s Rainforest, a Swedish nonprofit organization working to preserve the rain forest and animals in Central America. Amazonas has also earned the Green Dot Awards, one of the world’s most prestigious green awards.
The Nordic Ecolabel is a voluntary ecolabelling scheme that evaluates a product’s impact on the environment throughout the whole life cycle. The label guarantees among other things that climate requirements are taken into account, and that CO2 emissions (and other harmful gasses) are limited – where it is most relevant.

When you buy a Nordic Ecolabelled product or services, you as a consumer contribute to a more sustainable environment.
The Nordic Ecolabel recently increased the requirements put on products that want to earn the label. This is a way of driving the development of a sustainable society. All the companies that have previously had Nordic Ecolabbeled products must try their products according to the new requirements, and apply for a new license. The new requirements focus on the origin of wood products, that plastic used should be recycled, and that the levels chemicals allowed has been restricted.
