Intimacy, Privacy, Secrecy – ORIGAMI by Carlos Tíscar

#design #origami #sofa / In the spring of 2010 OFFECCT launched Origami, a comfortable contemporary version of the classical easy chair, developed by OFFECCT in collaboration with Spanish designer Carlos Tíscar.

Today, where much work and commuicating goes on in public places there is a demand for privacy, intimacy and secrecy – which ORIGAMI’s high back guarantees.

OFFECCT now launches the Origami sofa as a complement to last year’s easy chair. The sofa is not just an expanded version of the chair, but an entirely new piece of furniture with a new suspension system.

New Versions of Björn Dahlström’s Canti Chair

#design #chair / Last year OFFECCT started to cooperate with Swedish designer Björn Dahlström with the launch of the stackable chair Canti.

Canti was very well received by the market, and we have now expanded the CANTI line with a new type of wheels and legs in order to form a separate product family.

Our latest USB stick designed by Luca Nichetto profiled by Ambientes Digital

#USB #design / During 2010 OFFECCT launched a new initiative by distributing press material on a USB flash drive, containing press releases, high resolution images as well as the current edition of OFFECCT News. The purpose for this initiative was to combine efficient communication with the least possible impact on the environment.

This year Italian designer Luca Nichetto has designed the 2011 edition of the USB drive. When thinking about how to design the drive, Luca was inspired by the fact that the OFFECCT USB stick actually can be compared to a business card that you give – or receive – when meeting someone. The shape of the 2011 version of the USB drive was therefore inspired by Luca’s own business card in 2D. What Luca then did was to create a 3D version of his own business card, resulting in a very nice object that we think will be yet another collector’s item.

Chilean tech portal Ambientes Digital has chosen to cover Luca’s USB in this post >>

Impressions from Salone del Mobile 2011, Milan

#salonedelmobile #milan2011 #design

Back home after a wonderful week in Milan and our participation at the Salone del Mobile 2011, we look forward to follow-up all new contacts and impressions.

We met a lot of interesting people, and both our stand and our new products where very well recieved.

The Salone del Mobile 2011 was indeed a truly global event, where we had interesting talks with customers, dealers and visitors from all around the world, including Russia, Ukraine, Taiwan, Japan, Australia, South Korea, the United States and from most countries in Europe.

We felt that our collection is very competitive from an international point of view, and not least our O2asis collection drew a lot of visitors to our stand.

Also, our new acoustic panel SOUNDWAVE Bella – designed by Ida Linea Danielsson from Danish architectural firm 3XN – generetad wide interest.

We think that this year’s edition of Salone del Mobile was very succesful and would like to thank every one of you that made this a great event!

Grandeur by Monica Förster

#design #sofa

This spring OFFECCT has launched a new sofa designed by Monica Förster called GRAND.

When Monica Förster commenced the work to develop a sofa for OFFECCT the initial idea was to create a piece that conveyed the feeling of something improvised and sketched. The first ideas were transferred to a scale model where Förster worked intensively to create a shape that conveyed a sense of freedom. The final result – the sofa GRAND – can be viewed below:

Grand is a large and generous sofa. Grand comes in a right, a left and a straight version with an accompanying footstool and an optional divan.

Monica Förster, who is one of the top names within Swedish design, is based in Stockholm but grow up close to the Arctic Circle. Her work is characterized by a strong sense of pure form mixed with a never-ending curiosity for new materials and technology. Always trying to work in a cross-disciplinary way, Förster invents and renews typologies in industrial, furniture and object design.

DUO by OFFECCT and Patrick Norguet

For 2011, OFFECCT gave Patrick Norguet a design brief to develop a space-saving upholstered chair with great comfort.

Patrick’s answer to this brief is DUO – a space-saving upholstered, comfortable chair with or without arm rests. DUO is very graphic in its shape, with a seat consisting of two halves with the option to choose two different colors.

OFFECCT + 3XN = Bella

#salonedelmobile

In the process of designing the new Bella Sky Hotel in Copenhagen 3XN asked OFFECCT to develop a completely new acoustic panel that was consistent with the architectural project in its entirety.

This panel helps reducing disturbing reflections of environmental sounds such as voices, telephones etc. Material: recyclable moulded polyester fibre. Colours: Anthracite, grey, green and offwhite.
