This event was very much a product of participation between OFFECCT’s founders Kurt Tingdal, CEO and Anders Englund, Design Manager. Anders and Kurt held everyone – including OFFECCT’s employees – in suspense as their idea for the anniversary was to arrange an evening full of surprises to show gratitude towards everyone who has made OFFECCT’s success possible. (We will tell you more about the surprises in future blog posts.)

OFFECCT 20 Years - The Talkshow with Kurt Tingdal
Instead of giving conventional formal speeches Kurt, Anders and a number of employees and partners were interviewed by a talk show host (Peter Wanselius). The message that both Kurt and Anders came back to again and again during the night was the importance of OFFECCT’s employees as well as partners:
“Philosophically, we talked a lot about trees in relation to the branches: there are many companies that are heavily focused on the fruits of their trees and they would only like to have trees with good fruits. But the fruits are also only the consequence of what the roots can do. So, turn the tree upside down and focus on the roots: the roots could be your employees, your collaborating designers, your suppliers, your clients etc. If you focus in on the roots, then you grow the best fruits in the end, from which you can earn money. So we have turned around our thinking – if we prepare and nurture our roots properly, then I predict that our fruits will taste great!” (Kurt Tingdal, CEO)

“Managing the staff is similar to managing a football team – the employees are the team and we need a goalkeeper, defenders, strikers and many other professionals to make up this team. If we are going to have games seven days a week, we are going to be totally exhausted after a week or two. So we must be on a training camp the whole time, that’s important.” (Kurt Tingdal, CEO)
