Considerate Design and a Green List for Sustainable Procurement

In an earlier blog post we told you about the event “Mod, makt, glädje” – Swedish for “Courage, Power and Joy,” where OFFECCT’s Design Manager Anders Englund gave a speech about OFFECCT’s sustainable design philosophy.

OFFECCT’s sustainable work started back in 1993, and we think it’s great that sustainability is getting more and more attention in the design world.

Responsible for “Courage, Power and Joy” was Design Med Omtanke (DMO, Swedish for Considerate Design). Considerate Design was an initiative established in order to “give people help to realise their ideas in a sustainable way,” taken by the Region of Västra Götaland. More about DMO in English here and here.

Now that the first phase of “Considerate Design” has come to an end, we at OFFECCT hope that the important work will continue and that the so called GREEN LIST – which is a tool developed by Västra Götaland for sustainable procurement of furniture and interior design – will be widely used.

At OFFECCT we believe that no matter what the emissions are every company can and should make a difference. To minimize our environmental influence we have implemented green working methods to support our daily workflow. We do this by sustainable development and by constantly testing new, innovative and eco-friendly materials. We strive continuously to make products that are lifecycle based and at the same time re-use materials to minimize our emissions.
